ATHLETICS:
NIAMH Nugent, a Year Five pupil from St Anne’s Primary School, is going for glory this weekend.
She is competing in the schools biathlon national finals at Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Niamh came through a qualifying heat in Liverpool and a semi-final in Macclesfield to book her place in the line-up.
Biathlon, at this level, consists of a 50 metre swim and a 500m run.
Niamh has also represented her school at cross-country and swimming, and will be joined at the finals by another sports-mad youngster from Oldham.
Olivia Green is flying the flag for Hulme Estcourt in London. A member of Oldham and Royton Harriers, the Year Six girl has trained six days a week in preparation for her debut appearance at the famous venue.
