NETBALL: WHAT a nail-biter! Oldham Hulme Grammar Schools’ under-13s netball team hosted and won the Greater Manchester tournament.
But it was a close call. After beating Loretto in the last-four, the final went to the wire, ending level against Manchester High School for Girls.
The Oldham side clinched victory after scoring in golden goal time, in which the first team to score after extra-time wins the contest.
Head of PE Jo Knighton said: “We are on a roll at the moment, after the under-16’s win in Southampton at the National Schools’ finals and now this.
“Our latest triumph bodes well for the future of netball at the school.
“It was a beautiful day of weather, perfect for the occasion, and everyone played well.”
