Podium double for Alex

MOTOR RACING: ALEX Walker secured two podium finishes on his debut for Fortect Motorsport in the InterSteps Championship, at Silverstone.
The 16-year-old, from Shaw, was snapped up by the ambitious team after becoming ABKC National KF2 vice-champion on the karting track last year.
And he wasn’t backwards about coming forwards in his new surroundings, clinching second spot twice and collecting 54 points for his efforts in two 12-lap races.
Starting from third on the grid, a wheelspin caused him to drop to fifth in race one.
But Walker clawed his way back and overtook Patryk Szczerbinski (Autosport Young Guns) to occupy second position, where he stayed. Fortect team-mate Jake Dennis finished ahead of the chasing pack.
Walker produced a more composed start to the second race, and he saw off the challenge of James Peace (Motaworld) for runners-up spot. Dennis again cantered to victory.
“It’s been a steep learning curve, but I’ve enjoyed every moment of it,” said Walker.
“The car felt slightly better in the first race than the second, and the team have done a fantastic job and have been great to work with.”
Walker is back in InterSteps Championship action on May 7 and 8 in a triple-header at Snetterton, Norfolk.
