Firwood earn top marks

FIRWOOD Manor scored a success by becoming champions of the independent small schools netball tournament.

This is the school's second victory in the competition, which sees them retain their title despite only having five players in their squad.

The talented youngsters scored an astounding 84 goals on their way to glory.

And Firwood only conceded twice as they comfortably matched their eight opponents from around the North-West.

Pamela Wild, headteacher at Firwood Manor was delighted with the triumph.

She said: "It is a fantastic achievement for a small school to retain a trophy such as this.

“We are very proud of our team."
