Glodwick edge out visitors

Glodwick under-17s clinched a 17-run win over visitors Greenfield in the Saddleworth and District Cricket League.
The home side posted 102 for two before M Parkinson claimed four for 13 as Greenfield lost nine wickets and ran out of overs.
Ashton eased to victory over Micklehurst. K Yousaf retired with 52 runs to his name and R Shenton followed suit on 50 as Ashton made 146 without losing a wicket.
Micklehurst finished on 50 for seven, with D Patel claiming four for 10.
Chasing 124 against Stayley, Uppermill finished 12 runs shy of the target despite the best efforts of Joe Crowther, who came up with a stylish half-century.
Saddleworth ‘B’ ended their overs on 74 for six before opponents Austerlands reached their goal with eight wickets in hand, H Ripley mustering 45 not out.
Under-15s action saw Saddleworth ‘B’ secure a 61-run win at the expense of Stayley.
Sam Wilson and James Holland both retired on 50 as the Saddleworth outfit reached 136 without loss.
Their opponents recorded 75 for seven in reply, with Nick Woodhead leading the way for his side with 30.
Austerlands must have feared the worst when they were bowled out for 66 at Glodwick, but the hosts could only reach 42 for seven at the end of the overs.
Defending 79 for eight, Heyside dismissed Uppermill for 68.
Shaw remain unbeaten courtesy of an 11-run win against Royton at the Paddock.
Harry Sherriff (46) and Henry Dyson (20) put the visitors well on their way to 119 for eight, before their opponents lost eight wickets in their unsuccessful pursuit of the target.
Adam Temple and Lawrie Hughes took the lion’s share of the wickets.
Friarmere restricted visitors Greenfield to 60 for two before Sam Rigby’s undefeated 30 helped them win the contest with nine wickets in hand.
Bamford Fieldhouse blasted their way to 215 for four at Moorside ‘B’, and clinched the win by bowling out the home side for 41. J Mitchell took seven wickets for Bamford.
