SILVERWARE SUCCESS . . . Saddleworth School Year 11s’ rugby league side.
Rugby League:
SADDLEWORTH School Year 11s outclassed an under-strength Waterhead Academy 72-0 to capture their fourth Oldham Schools' title in five years at Manor Park.
Roughyeds stars Ben Wood, John Gillam and Jack Bradbury were joined by former Oldham players Gareth Barber and Steve Molloy in the crowd on a baking hot afternoon.
Saddleworth crossed 13 times, with Josh Bradbury claiming three of the touchdowns, and Ben White, John Casson and Ryan Maneely grabbing two apiece.
Laurie England, Matt Jackson, Chris Bolton and Jack Leigh completed the rout.
Goals were added by White (four), Bradbury (two), Harry Ripley, Ashley Webb, Tom Kearns and Leigh.
Waterhead were without several regulars, and had only 12 available players.
They battled hard but could not make an impact.
SADDLEWORTH Rangers under-11s were beaten 26-16 at Wigan St Judes.
Tries from Nathan Roebuck and Josh Molloy gave the visitors an early lead, with Roebuck adding the extras to his effort. But three quickfire touchdowns, two of which were successfully converted, handed the home side a 16-10 lead at the break.
Rangers, struggling with injuries after the interval, conceded two more tries and a conversion before Will Wright crossed late on and added the extras.
WATERHEAD under-11s beat neighbours Oldham St Anne’s 44-4.
Mason Edmonson and Kegan Brennan got two tries apiece, while Will Dickinson, Regan Garforth, Liam Leech and Jack Bradbury also crossed.
Conversions came courtesy of Brennan, Garforth, Leech, Bradbury, Cameron Holland and James Perks.
Rob Charles touched down for Saints.
HIGGINSHAW under-10s edged out Widnes St Maries 32-26.
Ryan Wade crossed three times, with Alfie Barker adding two tries and Trafford Firth also touching down to cap a fine team
performance.
