RUGBY: OLDHAM St Anne’s under-13s waltzed to victory in the Chronicle Cup final, seeing off Milnrow 34-3.
In the last of seven finals to be played, Patrick Casey was man-of-the-match for Saints, who hosted the match.
The club’s under-12s earned a comprehensive 18-4 victory at Blackbrook Royals.
The home side went ahead early on, but it proved to be their only contribution to the scoresheet as they failed to get a foothold in the encounter.
Stand-off James Barran levelled matters, and before the break second row Oliver Depetrillo crossed to give the visitors an 8-4 lead.
Regan Croft produced a fine solo try, which he converted himself, before Depetrillo evaded several would-be challenges and crashed over the line to the delight of his team-mates.
The depleted under-nines, who had only nine available players, lost 32-16 to Latchford.
The numerical disadvantage took its toll on the Oldham team, with the players suffering from fatigue in the second period.
Sam Thackeray and Finbar Martindale scored two tries apiece.
