CRICKET: AUSTERLANDS under-15s climbed to the top of the Saddleworth and District League Group One after a last ball victory at Droylsden.
The hosts stuttered to 77 for seven before restricting their opponents to 58 for eight.
But Jack Webb’s 19, completed on the last delivery of the match, clinched victory.
Uppermill earned an eight-wicket win at Stayley.
The home team finished on 68 for four, but Uppermill reach their goal in the 14th over.
Heyside made 82 for six at home to Saddleworth ‘B’, who comfortably reached their target.
Group Two action saw Saddleworth ‘A’ ease to 92 before dismissing opponents Friarmere for 36.
Moorside ‘B’ were bowled out for 39 by Royton, who won with nine wickets in hand.
Royton’s William Sandiford-Mitchell excelled with the ball, taking three for four from just 10 deliveries.
Matthew Parkinson made 48 not out as Glodwick under-17s reached 82 for three, but it was not enough as Ashton passed their total for the loss of five wickets.
Glodwick under-13s captain Jamie Symonds recorded 30 as his side amassed 95 against Droylsden, who finished 68 runs off the pace.
Joe Hulme two wickets at the expense of no runs for Glodwick.
