FOOTBALL: CHAMPIONS Springhead under-11s completed their North Bury League campaign on a high with a 4-2 win against Middleton.
Captain Will Dickinson, who bagged a brace, was joined on the scoresheet by Ryan Mason and Michael Patterson.
Athletic star Chris Taylor, a former Springhead player, joined the celebrations.
“Chris came away from a family engagement to hand over the trophy,” said Springhead manager Craig Dickinson.
“It was very kind of Chris to do that and the players appreciated it — a great way to end the season.”
ROCS FC under-16s saw off Moston Juniors 4-1 in the North Manchester Girls’ League.
Lauren Steel, Courtney Hunter, Courtney Byrne and Rhema Mears got the goals for ROCS in a comprehensive victory.
Elsewhere, the under-14s defeated Uppermill 5-0 thanks in no small part to two goals apiece from Abby Bennett and Leah Bickerstaffe, and a Courtney Thorpe effort, as Uppermill failed to gain a foothold in the match.
