FAILSWORTH West under-11s: wet but winners!
FOOTBALL: FAILSWORTH West under-11s battled through torrential rain to beat Urmston Meadowside 5-3 in the Manchester FA County Cup final.
Josh Burrows, who struck twice for Lee Boyling’s side, was joined on the scoresheet by Klaeton Coley, Marley Coley and Ben Frost at Manchester United youth academy.
It was the club’s first appearance in the final since they were established by the late Billy Grogan 10 years ago.
OLDHAM under-15s head coach Adam Cree stepped down after the Greater Manchester Schools’ League side ended their season with a 1-1 draw against Warrington.
Cree said: “At the end of the two years I am required to start again with a new under-14s side, but I feel this is the right time to step down and let someone else have a go.
“I had a fantastic time and I wish Oldham all the best for the future.”
Greg Street (Blue Coat) gave Oldham the lead midway through the first period. Warrington levelled matters with 15 minutes of the game remaining.
