MARKSMAN . . . James Larty receives his player of the year award.
FOOTBALL: CHADDERTON Juniors under-13s hotshot James Larty has been named Tameside Sunday League player of the year after bagging more than 40 goals.
The side, managed by Dave Coleman — named club official of the year — finished third in the table.
Failsworth School pupil James (13) also struck over 40 times for the club’s Tameside and District League side which plays on Saturdays, taking his tally to in excess of 80 goals.
But Dave was quick to point out the youngster’s award was for more than finding the net.
He said: “James is a goalscorer but in the last 12 months he has developed into more of a team player.
“I think he was given the gong for his all-round play.
“He holds the ball up well, which brings team-mates into the match.
“James is his own biggest critic at times and he gets frustrated with himself if he feels he has not played well, but the award is thoroughly deserved.”
