TROPHY TIME... Usamah Mir and Aaron Jordan, who train at Shaw Karate Club, proudly show off their awards after gaining first places at the Shukoka Karate Federation National Championships. Looking on are other members of the Shaw club.
TWO members of Shaw Karate Club scooped gold in the Shukoka Karate Federation National Championships at Edgehill Leisure Centre, Birmingham.
Eight-year-old Usamah Mir and Aaron Jordan (14) took on competitors from around the country to win their individual events in what proved to be a successful event for Shaw.
Out of the 18 members who competed, six won medals, but it was Usamah who shone according to coach, Keith Cockburn.
He said: “He’s only been with us about nine months so to win gold he did great.
“He’s a bright talent, but as a club we did brilliantly.”
Among the other medal winners were Bethanie Jardine, who won silver, and Andy Hall, who took bronze in the brown belt discipline.
