SADDLEWORTH and District Cricket League under-17s sides battled it out in the Romida Cup quarter-finals.
Bradley Hadfield retired on 50 as Saddleworth ‘A’ posted 97 for six, but Austerlands reached the target with just one ball to spare.
Daniel Hawthorne’s half-century helped Ashton reach 130 for six and excellent spin bowling from Heap and Yousef restricted opponents Uppermill to 74 for seven to put their side on course for victory.
Elsewhere, Greenfield cruised past Saddleworth ‘B’, and Friarmere scraped home against Heyside.
Semi-finals draw: Friarmere v Greenfield; Ashton v Austerlands.
Ties to be played on Wednesday, July 13.
Matches in the under-15s category were postponed due to open age sides using the venues for Tanner Cup ties.
