Town Team Academy up and running

NETBALL:
OLDHAM Town Team Academy under-12s and under-14s netball teams have experienced competitive action for the first time.
After trials were held in October to select a squad of players for each age group, they have since taken part in regular training sessions at Hulme Grammar School.
And their hard work on the court has paid off.
The under-12s made the short trip over the tops to play Huddersfield Giants’ under-12s, 13s and 14s sides — and Oldham emerged victorious in all three games.
Two under-14s teams made their debut in a fast net tournament in Eccles.
Fast net is a new version of netball, and includes rolling substitions, a powerplay quarter where double points are available and players can also shoot outside of the semi-circle.
Although neither team qualified for the final, they showed plenty of promise.
