BOXING: TALENTED teenager Jack Kilgannon helped North-West Counties to a 7-4 victory over hosts Guernsey.
The Royton fighter (15), part of Ben Lancaster’s Boarshaw stable, earned a unanimous points decision from the judges after his bout with Casey Delamere at St Pierre Park Hotel on a charity gala night.
It was a stylish end to the season for Jack, who now takes a well-earned break before the Boys’ Club Championships in October.
Coach Lancaster said: “Jack thoroughly deserved his win, as did North-West Counties.
“He dominated the first round, and although his opponent improved in the second, Jack took the fight to him in the third and forced a standing count.
“There was never any doubt about the outcome after such a convincing performance.
“Now he can go away and forget about boxing while he recharges his batteries, and come back stronger for the Boys’ Club Championships.”
Lancaster added: “Jack has come a long way this year. I am very happy with his progress.
“Naturally he is buzzing because it means a lot to represent the region.
“This was his second time, after fighting for them in Poland year, and he loved every minute of it.
“When he returns people will be expecting big things of Jack. Not in a way that puts pressure on him, just because he has made great progress.”
