CRICKET: NICK Jeffrey claimed a hat-trick for Uppermill under-15s in their Saddleworth and District League victory at home to Heyside.
His return of five for nine ensured the visitors — chasing 92 — fell eight runs short of the target in an enthralling Group One clash.
Austerlands stayed ahead of Moorside ‘A’ courtesy of a six-wicket victory over Glodwick.
Chasing 92, Austerlands won the contest with four wickets down.
Group Two action saw Bamford Fieldhouse maintain their lead at the summit with a 116-run victory over Moorside ‘B’.
Alex Willis and Abbu Alam both retired on 50 as the hosts amassed 150 for one before skittling Moorside for just 34.
Joe Mitchell claimed four for 14 for the leaders.
Shaw earned a 13-run home win against Royton after making 112 for eight, Adam Temple notching a half-century.
The visitors were restricted to 99 for six, despite Aaron Dalziell mustering 39.
Greenfield dismissed Friarmere for 68 prior to sealing a five-wicket triumph.
In tomorrow’s Leicester Shield semi-finals, Royton host Greenfield and Saddleworth ‘A’ entertain Bamford Fieldhouse (both 6.30pm).
In the under-17s category, Stayley beat Bamford Fieldhouse on the last ball after successfully chasing down 94 for the loss of five wickets.
Tom Hindley scored 50 as Glodwick, who restricted Shaw to 82 for eight, won by seven wickets.
