GLODWICK Cricket Club youngster Sobhan Mirza is facing up to an action-packed week — weather permitting.

A member of Lancashire under-11s, the seam bowler was locking horns with Roses rivals Yorkshire at Blackley today, before taking on Nottinghamshire at Calverton CC on Thursday.

The Hey with Zion Primary School pupil was selected for the squad after impressing Red Rose officials with a string of outstanding performances.

Sobhan, who plays for his club’s under-11s and under-13s sides, was highlighted for county trials by Oldham town team coach Paul Connolly.

Lancashire under-11s have suffered mixed fortunes so far this season.

After beginning their programme with a three-wicket victory over Wales, they have since lost to Yorkshire and Cheshire.

Lancashire, with Sobhan in the ranks, are looking to back on track ahead of the prestigious Primary County Festival at Kings College, Taunton, next month, at which they take on the likes of Surrey, Cornwall, Sussex, Oxfordshire and Kent.
