SWIMMING: DEDICATED Dylan Arzoni will look to build on his success when the swimming season returns.
The Hulme Grammar pupil (11), who lives in Grasscroft, gets back in full swing next month and can reflect on a superb run of form.
Dylan, who swam for Oldham Seals before switching to Stockport, capped the last campaign in style by winning two gold medals (100 metre and 200m backstroke) and two bronze (100m freestyle and 200m individual medley) at the North-West regional championships in Manchester.
And he produced a stunning performance at the British national championships in Sheffield, taking gold in 100m backstroke and bronze in 200m backstroke, becoming his club’s first national champion since 2008.
Proud dad Steve said: “Dylan’s progression has been quite rapid – it has been fantastic to watch him go from strength-to-strength.
“Despite the fact competition at Stockport is fierce, he is their first national champion in three years. I could not believe it when they told me that.
“The new season starts in September and, having had a nice rest, Dylan is looking forward to what will hopefully be another successful year.”
Dylan added: “I was really pleased with my swims at the nationals. I got new personal-best times in my events and to win two medals, especially a gold, was brilliant."
