CRICKET:
Triumphant Heyside skipper Daniel Robertson showed off the Saddleworth and District Cricket League’s Under-17s Division trophy in front of team-mates and team manager Steven Firth .
The teenagers were assured of top honours after the last round of fixtures were abandoned without a ball bowled because of the weather.
Meanwhile, the league’s under-15s Leicester Shield final between Bamford Fieldhouse and Greenfield at Hollin Lane was abandoned due to rain.
Bamford, the home side, were 90 for seven from 27 overs when the elements intervened.
The clubs is trying to organise a date for the final to be replayed.
