Chadderton at the double
Date published: 07 September 2011
FOOTBALL: JOE Chadderton struck twice as 3D Dynamos under-15s saw off Walshaw Park 4-1 in the Huddersfield and District League.
He was joined on the scoresheet by Lewis Wood and Elliot Blenkinsop.
The first goal was quite fortunate — Danny Laithwaite was allowed to shoot after being fouled in the penalty box, and when it flew over the bar the spot-kick was awarded, with Wood scoring the opener.
Walshaw soon drew level from a well-worked corner, but Dynamos regained the lead when Laithwaite released Chadderton, who rounded the goalkeeper and rolled the ball into the net.
With 21 minutes on the clock Fraser MacDonald crossed to Blenkinsop, who fired home from five yards out.
MacDonald had an effort of his own ruled out for offside before the break.
After the break Walshaw threw everything at their opponents but, after 53 minutes, Lindsay fed Chadderton and he lobbed the goalkeeper.
From this point onwards Dynamos dominated proceedings.
After producing some flowing football it was a surprise that they did not score more goals.
Wood and Chadderton both went close to extending the lead, only to be denied by the busy goalkeeper.
Walshaw missed a penalty late on after Blenkinsop was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the penalty area.
Chadderton was caught in possession as Dynamos flocked forward in the dying minutes, and Walshaw would have scored from the opportunity had their effort on goal not fizzed the wrong side of the post.
