NETBALL: NORTHERN Thunder coach Suzy Chapman held a netball shooting workshop at Hulme Grammar Schools, helping the next generation of netballers.
The session, held on the first day of the new term, saw shooters ranging from years eight to 12 work with the Netball Superleague coach.
Suzy, who was awarded the England Netball Golden Globe for North-West Coach of the Year in May, helped the girls with their shooting techniques, training practices and updated them on tactics.
Hulme’s netball teacher Liz Harris said: “It was a really enjoyable day and the girls received some expert coaching from Suzy.
“It was good for the girls to get some outside influence and help.
“The pupils are now eager and ready to begin the forthcoming season and are aiming to emulate the past two seasons where they have become under-14 and under-16 national schools champions,” she added.
Hulme holds netball workshops each year with different coaches and defenders also receiving advice and training.
Suzy, who works for Oldham Council’s Integrated Youth Service, will coach Northern Thunder when they compete in the FIAT Netball Superleague 2012 from next January.
