LIAM Parfitt picked up the man-of-the-match award after steering Greenfield under-17s to a comfortable win over Ashton in the Saddleworth and District Cricket League’s Romida Trophy final.
After bowling eight tight overs for the cost of 16 runs, the all-rounder then hit an unbeaten 69 to help secure an eight-wicket success.
Greenfield had a stranglehold on the hosts once prolific run-scorer Kameran Yousaf was caught behind off the bowling of Toby Jones.
Ashton never recovered and stumbled to 109 all out, with Jones claiming three for 11 in an excellent spell of bowling and Sam Fitton three for 17.
Victory was never in doubt after captain Christian Shoel (25) had shared an opening stand of 70 with Parfitt, who has played first and second-team cricket for Greenfield this season.
