Lacrosse: THOMAS Burgess travelled all the way to America to help his lacrosse team win the junior boys’ tournament.
The youngster, who attends The Radclyffe School, jetted off to Maryland to represent Timperley Lacrosse Club and England in the friendly competition.
Midfielder Thomas, who has been playing lacrosse since the age of eight, helped his team to six
victories and one defeat, scoring a few goals along the way as they won the competition overall.
For the 10-day visit, Thomas stayed with the family of an opponent in Maryland and revealed he loved the experience. “I was a bit nervous at first but then it was fine,” he said.
“It was a great experience and I really enjoyed it.”
Thomas, who took up lacrosse because his dad had played the sport, started out with Oldham lacrosse team before moving to the Timperley outfit at 12.
His quick progression and talent means he now plays for the under 14s ‘A’ team and the next season starts in a couple of weeks time.
Simon Mellor, Head of PE at The Radclyffe School, is delighted with his pupil’s progress.
He said: “Thomas has shown great sporting talent in school and we are all extremely proud that he is excelling in lacrosse.”
