Clarets win close contest

FOOTBALL:
HEYSIDE Clarets under-16s narrowly beat Oldham Athletic 2-0 in the North Manchester Girls’ League thanks to Charlotte Lancaster and Kelly Ward efforts.
But the Angels Blues lost 5-2 to Denton Girls despite a Leoni Harland double.
Kinsa Hmami got two goals and Ella Milovanovic one as the under-15s pipped Uppermill 3-2.
The under-14s beat Uppermill 8-2 when Ashleigh Wylie netted five, Alicia Stretton two and Katie Newton also got a goal.
They also saw off Failsworth Dynamos 12-1. Emily Whitehead helped herself to four goals, Tia Jackson, Mia Holden and Lavinia Whitehead got braces and Brooke Ellis and Caitlin Senior also hit the target.
The under-13s drew 3-3 with Moston Brook. On the mark were Karis Milnes, Izzie Whittle and Emily Pennells.
Beth Boothroyd, Katie Halligan and Aislin Miller got two goals apiece in the under-12s’ 8-1 win against Denton Girls.
Emily Kay and Robyn Hartley also pounced.
ABBY Bennett struck six times in ROCS under-15s’ 10-0 defeat of Hillgate.
Leah Bickerstaffe did the rest of the damage.
The under-16s drew 2-2 with Uppermill, with both goals coming from Aimee Cook.
