Rout earns home tie

FOOTBALL:
ROYTON and Crompton School are celebrating after easing through to the third round of the ESFA Under-12 Danone Nations Schools’ Cup following an emphatic 8-2 victory against Darwen Aldridge Community Academy (Blackburn).
The local youngsters led 4-1 at the break before doubling their tally in the second half to run out
convincing winners in the School football prestigious national knockout competition.
They will now take on St Joseph’s Sports College (Bolton) on home turf, with the tie scheduled to take place on or before Saturday, November 5.
Royton and Crompton under-15s are also through to the third round after a thrilling 8-7 triumph at the expense of Cardinal Langley RC High (Rochdale) after extra-time. Next up are Rochdale side Matthew Moss High.
Failsworth Sports College under-13s progressed in their category courtesy of a 5-2 win against St Augustine’s RC High (Hyndburn and Ribble Valley). Their reward was an away tie against St James’ CE and Sports College (Bolton).
