Hussain double seals cup victory

FOOTBALL:
MIDWAY under-11s overcame Heyside Junior Blues 5-3 in the Manchester Youth and Mini-Soccer League Knock-out Cup.
Kamrul Hussain bagged a brace for Midway and was joined on the scoresheet by Zion Dawson, Alec Bowles and Josh Stepley to seal a thrilling victory.
HEYSIDE under-16s beat FC United of Tameside 5-1 through strikes from Martin Kenny, Danny Lewis, Corey McKonkie, Kareem James and an own goal.
The under-14s edged out Hyde United 2-0 after Bradley Adams and Kieron Thomason efforts.
Corey Pearson netted three times and Jamie Foster-Jones plundered a goal in the under-13s’ 4-1 defeat of Prestwich.
BROADWAY Celtic under-15s continued their unbeaten start to the season by pipping Failsworth Town 1-0 courtesy of a Callum Webb strike.
JACK Johnson struck three times in Crompton Villa under-15s’ 5-3 triumph at Mossley.
Hayden Clarke and Ryan Hall completed the job for Villa.
North Chadderton High under-16s are in round four courtesy of a narrow 2-1 defeat of St James’ CE School and Sports College (Bolton).
ROCS under-15s went top of the table after beating Uppermill ‘A’ 4-2 in the North Manchester Girls’ League.
On the mark were Abby Bennett, Leah Bickerstaffe, Alys Wild and Reagan Steenson. But the under-16s missed a number of chances and lost 4-1 to Denton Girls, Aimee Cook grabbing the consolation goal.
HANNAH Saunders was on target for Oldham Athletic under-16s but it was not enough to prevent a 2-1 loss to Heyside Blues, for whom Leoni Harland and Lauren Patterson pounced. But there was better news for the under-13s — they beat Hillgate 3-0 thanks to Abbie Ainsworth, Rebecca Turner and Lucy Kershaw efforts.
