RUGBY:
OLDHAM St Anne’s under-13s made a bright start against Blackbrook Royals before slipping to a 18-12 defeat.
Man-of-the-match Oliver Depetrillo went over twice to put Saints in command. The second row made a strong run down the left-hand side to score his first, while he gathered an Owen Baldwin kick for number two.
With St Anne’s pressing again, Royals intercepted a pass for a converted score.
The local outfit found themselves behind for the first time after the break when their opponents ran in three tries. But Saints hit back with a well-worked effort, with Baldwin slipping a short ball to Haider Khan, who squeezed in at the corner.
SADDLEWORTH Rangers under-12s were taught a harsh lesson in a 20-12 defeat at Blackbrook Royals.
Rangers bossed much of the game, but succumbed to a couple of late tries.
