FAILSWORTH Sports College’s Year Eight side are through to the last-32 of the ESFA Under-13s Schools’ Cup thanks to a 9-1 defeat of Hawkley Hall High (Wigan).
Tyrell McKenzie and Connor Berry scored a hat-trick apiece, while Max Davidson’s two were complemented by Niall Platt’s solitary strike.
Failsworth will entertain the winners of Sacred Heart Catholic College (Sefton) versus West Derby (Liverpool).
North Chadderton Year Sevens had high hopes of doing well in this competition after beating St Bede’s 4-1 in the fourth round, in which Josef Rimmer notched a hat-trick. But they crashed out after a 3-1 loss at the hands of St Edmund Arrowsmith High (Wigan).
And the Year 11s also left the tournament — despite a spirited display, they were defeated 6-0 by St Bede’s.
