La Manna’s sweet smell of success

RUNNING:

JOSHUA La Manna, of Oldham and Royton Harriers, has plenty to smile about after scooping the under-13s boys’ section in the Red Rose League.

The youngster won the final race of the series in 10 minutes eight seconds and with it the overall title.

Harriers team-mate Joseph Kershaw was 16th in 11:51, followed by Joshua Decamps (22nd, 12:23), Alex Taylor (29th, 13:03) and James Ogg (39th, 15:33).

The team were fourth overall in the four-race league. There were a clutch of impressive performances from Harriers athletes on a very wet and hilly course in Rawtenstall.

In the under-11s boys’ race, Ethan Glasgow-Lattibeaudliere was the runner-up in 7:53 and third overall.

Ashley Jones was next-best for Harriers in 18th (9:07), with Curtis Brierley 28th (9:50). The team were fourth on the day.

Molly Healey coped well with the mud in the under-11 girls’ race, crossing the line in 15th (9:38), followed by Ellise Taylor, who was 44th (11:45). In the under-13s girls’ section, Amber Boulton was 27th (14:19), followed by Maria Gabrilatsou (31st, 14:56).

The under-15s runners were sent in the opposite direction over a longer trip, but Harriers rose to the challenge. Christopher Brown was fourth in 17:11 and fifth overall in the series.

Alex Procter was seventh (17:34), with Bradley Healey (13th, 18:21), Jack Edmonson (16th, 20:00), Connor Colleavey (18th, 20:22) and Nathan Hilditch (21st, 20:42).

Second on the day, the team also claimed runner-up spot in the series.

For the girls, Niamh Boulton was 17th (22:08) and Lucy Kershaw 26th (24:48). The team were fifth in the table.

In the under-17 boys’ race, Scott Healey was 20th in 25:16 and for the girls, Rose Mather was a superb eighth (28:14), with Emma Croft 11th (30:37).
