MILES OF SMILES . . . pupils from Hodge Clough have plenty to be pleased about after claiming the overall boys and girls crown in the Years Three and Four section.
CROSS COUNTRY:
ST JOSEPH’S and Hodge Clough primary schools celebrated victory in the Oldham Schools Cross-Country Championships.
The Shaw-based youngsters, of St Joseph’s, filled three of the top 10 places in the boys and girls races to clinch the overall Years Five and Six title at Chadderton Hall Park.
Deputy head Steve Hill was full of praise for the efforts of the pupils in clinching the overall title.
He said: “It is fair to say a lot of hard work went into the preparations for this event and it all paid off. They did brilliantly. We have won the Oldham Schools Cross-Country Championships before, but it is always a pleasure and I am chuffed for everyone from St Joseph’s who participated.
“It made all the training and build-up to the competition worthwhile. We look forward to next year and the opportunity for our boys and girls to retain their titles.”
Hodge Clough also had plenty to shout about on the day. The boys and girls showed their rivals a clean pair of heels to emerge victorious in the Years Three and Four section.
