OLDHAM swimmer Alex Crossland-Robins came away from the Snow Frills long course event at Ponds Forge, Sheffield, with nine medals.

The 11-year-old Royton and Crompton School pupil, a member of Oldham’s advanced training squad (ATS), was competing for his new club, Stockport Metro. And he didn’t disappoint, taking gold in 200-metre butterfly and 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke.

Silvers were awarded for his efforts in 50m and 100m butterfly, 50m breaststroke and 200m individual medley, while he also took bronze in 200m freestyle.

Dad Dave said: “Though Alex has no races until the middle of January, he will be training hard all over Christmas and swimming every morning between 5am and 7am.”
