BASKETBALL: TWO young members of Oldham Titans Basketball Club have taken their first steps towards representing England.
Connor Hamilton (11), of Newman RC College, and 13-year-old Joe Bridgen, who attends St Matthew’s RC High School, Moston, have been selected for the Area Performance Centre (APC).
The duo received the invitation after catching the eye for their club in the North-West Conference, displaying impressive stamina and determination.
It is an invaluable opportunity for the boys to enhance their talent as the APC teaches and reinforces the skills necessary to develop into better players.
Scouts and coaches earmark youngsters who have the potential to pull on the England jersey.
Club chairman Mark Hamilton is beaming with pride and believes they deserve their places.
He said: “I am happy to see such young lads dedicated to the sport, have their achievements recognised.”
The duo will attend one day’s coaching every month for the next two years, at a variety of venues across the North-West. The first session is on Sunday, at Burnley College.
