Young Titans clinch victory

BASKETBALL:
OLDHAM Titans under-18s enjoyed a 79-42 home victory over basement boys Merseyside Spartans in the North-West Conference.
It took five minutes for the hosts to find their stride, at which point they set about building a lead.
The second quarter saw Titans restrict their opponents to just Titans hit top form five points, scoring 19 of their own in the process to enter the third 36-16 ahead.
In the first eight minutes of the third quarter Oldham notched 17 points, which led coach Bob Lloyd to replace all the under-18s with under-16s, who added a further six to the tally.
Going into the final quarter 59-31 to the good, the home outfit produced some impressive interceptions before the under-18s returned to the court to help secure the win.
James Harvey top-scored with 14 points. Titans travel to Barrow on Sunday.
