Martial Arts:
OLDHAM'S Domana Elica Martial Arts Academy (DEMAA) are the proud recipients of the International Charter school of the year award.
Given to them by the Eastern USA International Martial Arts Association, it recognises the commitment and loyalty shown by students, who won a haul of medals in the World Martial Arts Games last year.
To further highlight the club’s success, two of their members have become black belts.
Anabel Terry (14) earned the status for her efforts in Ju-Jitsu after 11 years of training, as well as gaining the Sports Leadership Award Level One.
Calvin Russell (10) is also a Ju-Jitsu black belt, something for which he has strived since 2006.
Far from resting on their laurels, DEMAA aim to add to their impressive medal count when they return to the World Martial Arts Games this summer.
