School’s gymnasts shine in regional contests

GYMNASTICS: SADDLEWORTH School pupils produced some superb performances in the regional section of the English Gymnastic Championships held at Robin Park, Wigan.

Year Nine representatives Megan Fletcher and Samantha Biddlestone defied their tender years to win the bronze medal in the under-19 pairs competition.

And the "sixers" team of Ruby Wilson, Sophie McDermott, Ruby Lambert, Amy Cook, Ella Bones and Vicky Conway struck gold in the under-13s event.

Saddleworth were also second in the under-13 pairs pairs and third in the under-18s "sixer".

All of the girls who represented the school were congratulated on their efforts, many against contestants older than themselves.
