FOOTBALL:
FAILSWORTH West under-sevens are on their way to ‘invincibles’ status.
The talented youngsters have won 27 successive matches and show no sign of slowing down.
Coach Ian Laidler, who joined the club last year, believes the positive attitude demonstrated by the players has made them a force to be reckoned with.
He said: “I think the key ingredient is confidence. The lads just seem to buzz off each other, which makes them feel great on the pitch and also creates an excellent team spirit.
“They are catching the eye week in, week out with their performances and we have had some big wins.”
The team’s latest success was against local rivals Failsworth Dynamos, who were beaten 5-0. Nico O’Reilly (two), Ryan Shaw, Mason Naylor and Finlay Farrell got the goals.
West have scored 128 goals in the run and conceded only 12. They have enjoyed victories over Liverpool and Manchester City, as well winning the JSL tournament over Christmas.
The club are on the look-out for players of Year One and Year Two school age. For more details, call Ian on 07976 435865.
