Strong finish secures points

BASKETBALL:
OLDHAM Titans under-16s claimed a 72-59 win at the expense of hosts Sefton Stars in the Boys North Conference.
David Walsh and Sam Atkinson top-scored for the visitors with 19 points each as they led the charge.
Kameron Shorrocks and Aiden Kelly opened the game by each scoring a basket, and their teammates soon followed suit as the first quarter ended 25-7 in Oldham’s favour.
Changes had to be made as several Titans players had already played in an under-18s game, and Sefton capitalised by edging the second quarter 17-10.
After the half-time interval it became clear Titans were struggling for cohesion, and their opponents closed the gap again to make it 51-49 to the Oldham outfit.
The away team improved for the final push and passed more on their way to victory.
They face Gateshead on Saturday.
