NETBALL:
A YOUNG Oldham team — the average age was 16 — gave as good as they got against an experienced Seatonians side, who eventually prevailed 64-43 in this Northern League clash.
Oldham started brightly and had built up a six-point lead at the end of the first quarter.
The hosts, from Newcastle, made several changes in the second quarter and fought back to bag a narrow advantage (28-27) at half-time.
Seatonians put the teenagers under pressure after the restart — mistakes began to creep into Oldham’s play — and they trailed by 14 with one quarter remaining. The visitors kept working hard, but they were unable to bridge the gap.
