Harry’s game lifts Rangers

SADDLEWORTH Rangers under-14s recorded a 20-18 win over Pilkington Recs — despite atrocious conditions and having only 12 players!
Rangers, for whom Dan King and George Vick tackled superbly, scored first. Harry Aaronson took a quick penalty tap and stormed 10 yards to put down in the corner.
Aaronson went in again after an excellent display of passing by the backs, in particular Sam Ireland and Tom Brisk. King kicked a penalty to stretch Rangers’ lead just before half-time.
Recs were level within the first 10 minutes of the second half. Rangers dug deep and superb runs by man-of-the-match Vick and Ali Hassan saw the latter put down under the posts.
Pilkington replied shortly after to level things up again, but a third try by Aaronson clinched victory and lifted Rangers to second place in the North-West Counties League.
IN the North-West Youth League under-18s Premier Division, Waterhead were edged out 24-22 at Ashton Bears.
Saddleworth Rangers were beaten 34-0 at Ince Rose Bridge in the under-16s Premier Division, Oldham St Anne’s lost 52-16 at Shevington Sharks in Division One, while Waterhead secured a 16-16 draw at home to Rylands Tiger Sharks in Division Two.
