THE Saddleworth and District League under-15s finally got their season under way with the first round of Leicester Shield matches.
Droylsden, Greenfield and Glodwick received byes as their opponents could not raise a team.
Saddleworth ‘B’ enjoyed a 36-run victory over Stalybridge St Paul’s, Jake Manton’s 50 helping the winners reach 111 for three. St Paul’s could only muster 75.
Royton’s Jack Snape also posted 50 as the home side made 136 with Heyside falling short on 70.
Under-17s action saw Stayley restrict Friarmere to 112 for seven before reaching their target without loss, Nick Woodhead recording 50.
Dave Cooper’s unbeaten 47 helped Shaw muster 105 for four, but opponents Uppermill earned a seven-wicket victory.
Greenfield made 66 for six before dismissing Moorside for 40.
