SWIMMING:
CROMPTON House left their rivals trailing in the Oldham Schools Swimming Championships.
In a repeat of the 2011 outcome, the boys and girls teams were crowned overall champions.
Crompton’s girls were victorious in the Year Sevens, Eights and 12/13 categories. And for good measure, they bagged the Brown Shield — a sprint relay involving different age groups.
Hulme also proved a hit in the water and had two reasons to celebrate, claiming the Year Nines and 10/11s divisions.
It was a similar story in the boys, were Crompton came out on top in the Year Sevens and Eights sections. They also picked up the Brown Shield.
Hulme enjoyed another brace of wins, in the Year Nines and 12/13s, while Blue Coat got their name on the roll of honour with victory in the Year 10/11s.
Joe McCue, of Blue Coat, set a new record in the Years 10/11 freestyle in the event held at Oldham Sports Centre.
In the ‘B’ competition, the girls from Blue Coat won the Year Sevens — see story below — with Waterhead Academy (Moorside Campus) taking Year Eight honours.
For the boys, Radclyffe landed the Year Sevens title and Oasis Academy (Roman Road Campus) the Year Eights laurels.
