FRESH from sitting their SATs, South Failsworth School pupils are set for another stern test when they play at Wembley tomorrow.
Eight talented youngsters take on opposition from Brentford after making it through to the npower Football League Under-11s Kids Cup Grand Final.
And now their exams are out of the way, they are counting down the hours until their eagerly-anticipated appearance on the hallowed turf.
Emma Davies, sports co-ordinator at South Failsworth, said: “The children are so excited about this experience.
“As far as I know, none of them have even been to Wembley as a supporter.
“The recent drama in the climax of the Premier League season and the Champions League final has only served to whet their appetites even more.
“All the focus was quite rightly on the SATs, but now they can look forward to the trip.”
Preparations for the kick-off — which precedes the League One play-off final — could hardly have gone better.
Former England international Ray Wilkins, now a Sky Sports pundit, passed on his pearls of wisdom to the group, who will represent Oldham Athletic.
The ex-Manchester United man put South Failsworth players through their paces in a 60-minute training session.
Wilkins was impressed by the enthusiasm pupils demonstrated and urged them to make the most of their once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
