Quartet complete season in fine style

FOOTBALL:

OLDHAM youngsters stole the show at the Metrolink Manchester FA Youth County Cup, with four teams soaring to victory in the finals.

Failsworth Dynamos under-11s, Chadderton Park under-12s, Heyside Angels under-12s and Avro under-15s clinched glory.

Dynamos won 3-2 on penalties after a nailbiting draw against Sale United.

Chadderton Park stormed to victory against Heyside with a 2-0 win. Heyside Angels prevailed against Failsworth Villa with a 2-1 triumph, while Avro edged out Hough End Griffins 4-3 on penalties.

Avro coach Dave Moxon said: “We are delighted to have won the cup and

honoured to have had such great support.

“The boys played fantastically. For us, it is the end of a wonderful season. “The Metrolink Manchester FA Youth County Cup is a wonderful opportunity for the teams to strive for success.

“We are grateful to Metrolink, for their continuing support of grass roots football throughout Greater Manchester, and for helping to make this possible.”
