GLODWICK under-15s’ trip to Stalybridge St Paul’s in the Saddleworth and District League turned out to be a compelling contest.
A solid batting display saw the visitors post 95 from their 20 overs.
In reply, Ben Watson’s 53 seemed to be taking Stalybridge St Paul’s to victory — but with two runs needed to win off the last ball, they could only manage a single and the game was tied.
This week it was the turn of Royton to take top spot in the table without bowling a ball.
Their opponents, Bamford Fieldhouse, failed to raise a team and the four points awarded took them two points clear of Greenfield, who had a free weekend.
Heyside’s winless streak continued at home to Saddleworth ‘A’ with an eight-wicket defeat.
Moorside’s bowlers helped them to a seven-wicket triumph at Droylsden.
JOSH Lees made 50 for Greenfield under-17s, who posted 100 for four at home to Heyside.
The visitors were 17 runs short of the target when their last wicket fell.
Ashton restricted Micklehurst to 63 for six before earning a comfortable seven-wicket win.
The fixtures at Uppermill, Austerlands, Shaw and Stayley were abandoned.
