Royton future looks bright

Micklehurst and Royton will face-off in the final of the Saddleworth and District Cricket League’s under-15s Leicester Shield.
The former, who last won the knockout competition in 2004, defeated Greenfield by seven wickets in the last four.
Royton, seeking a first Shield final success, were given their semi-final tie as opponents Saddleworth ‘B’ were unable to raise a team.
The final takes place over the August Bank Holiday weekend, with the two clubs to decide the venue.
A clutch of promising young players are coming through the ranks at the Paddock, and they are already tasting silverware success.
The club’s under-13s have clinched Division ‘A’ in the Central Lancashire League, while the under-15s are through to the final of the Saddleworth and District Cricket League’s Leicester Shield.
The younger age group are facing a showdown with Littleborough, winners of Division ‘B’, in September to decide the overall champions.
