Cycling:
AFTER a season in which he has dominated the podium, Oldham youngster Matt Walls is now a national champion.
Matt (14) has won the UK Junior Omnium title and is hoping to be in the national talent team in 2013.
The youngster raced in five different disciplines and had already been crowned champion before the fifth and final race.
During the final, Matt took part in the scratch, devil, points, sprint and time trial races against 26 other cyclists, including two from his own team.
He is setting his sights on achieving greater things next year when he progresses from the junior ranks to the first year of the youth division.
“It’s been a fantastic weekend of racing for me and it feels great to have won a national title,” said Matt.
“Hopefully this will be the start of many titles.”
