OLDHAM’S Jacob Ragan clinched the National Junior Scratch title after a superb performance in a notoriously competitive field.
The 16 year old from Denshaw, represented Champion Systems in the 80-lap race.
He was also runner-up by seven hundredths of a second in the pursuit category and fourth in the points race — which he led until the last two sprints.
Jacob said: “I felt really good. I have put in a lot of work over the last couple of months and it has paid off.
“The plan was just to take the race by the scruff of the neck and take my chances.”
Jacob’s team-mate Christopher Latham took bronze.
