Athletics: LYDGATE running star Olivia Green put her best foot forward to claim gold at the national finals of the Young Athletics League at Sportscity.
Cheered on by her family, the Hulme Grammar School pupil raced to victory in the 1,200 metres, crossing the line in a three minutes 57 seconds.
The 12 year old, who runs for Sale Harriers, qualified for the nationals after impressing in the Premier Division North section of the league.
Olivia has enjoyed a great year. Competing for Sale, she picked up a team bronze in the under-13s National Cross-Country League final at Parliament Hill.
Next up for the talented athlete are the Northern Road Relay Championships over 3km at Leigh Sports Village on Saturday.
Looking further ahead, the former member of Oldham and Royton Harriers has her sights set on the triathlon in 2013.
Olivia is also no stranger to international competition as she represented Great Britain in the World Biathlon finals in Sofia, Bulgaria last year.
She has taken part in acquathons — a swim followed by running — and duathlons, which is a run-bike-run event.
