JUNIOR golf is thriving at Saddleworth.
The club’s talented youngsters made it to the final of the Huddersfield and Halifax League, but just missed out on the overall title.
The players, Sam Lyness (captain), Ben Pullen, Tony Jeffery and Will Millward, played 10 matches and accumulated 50 points to lead their section.
It was the highest total in the league and clinched a place in the play-offs, which featured the top two teams from each of the four divisions.
Saddleworth got through both quarter and semi-finals, beating Castlefields and Lightcliffe respectively, to meet Outlane at Elland Golf Club.
Outlane finished second to Saddleworth in the division, but came out on top in the final.
Saddleworth club junior co-ordinator Jenny Pullen said: “The club are very proud of all the players and hope their success will carry on into next season.”
