TEAMS from Oldham were today hoping to do the town proud in the county finals of the Greater Manchester Schools Indoor Rowing Championship in Wigan.
Hathershaw, Crompton House, New Bridge, Newman College and Hulme all progressed from qualifying runs at Failsworth School.
Times were compared as more than 200 children showcased their skills on six rowing machines.
Radclyffe, Oasis Academy, Blue Coat and Oldham Academy North also competed in the qualifiers.
Organiser Steve Tyrrell said: “It was a highly enjoyable all-day event. This kind of event encourages more participation in the future, which is what it’s all about.”
